Collier Family Farms - Ava Maria, FL

Collier Family Farms is a gem out in the middle of nowhere! Located on Ava Maria Blvd, Ava Maria it could be considered quite a drive, but believe me, it is worth it.

Depending on the time of year, different veggies are offered for U-Pick. We were fortunate enough to pick up cabbage, zucchini, squash, bell peppers, hot peppers, tomatoes, broccoli, eggplant and various herbs.

My children thoroughly enjoyed having their own baskets, and filled them happily with whatever looked good!
The best part about Collier Family Farm is that they are all organic, and they only charge $1.00 per pound for u-pick veggies! Yup, that's it, just $1.00 per pound.

If you don't have time for u-pick, then you can stop by their market stall at the entrance to the farm and pick up whatever you need.
We highly recommend a visit to Collier Family Farm! Not only is it a beautiful drive, but it is a local family business providing delicious food at a great price. Now what could be better than that?

Kowiachobee Animal Preserve

Located in the Golden Gate Estates area of Naples is a small house that lies amongst many others. However, what makes this little house special is that it is full of wonderful wildlife surprises!

Kowiachobee Animal Preserve is a non-profit organization that rescues, rehabilitates and houses some of natures most amazing and fascinating animals. Although KAP is not officially open to the public, they are more than happy to take appointments for personal tours. We were honored to be given a tour by Kelsey! Kelsey was extremely knowledgeable, patient and obviously passionate about the preserves mission.
During our two hour tour we observed and interacted with many different animals, from horses to goats, lions, tigers, and leopards, ferrets, snakes and skunks just to name a few. At each stop Kelsey gave information on the history of the animal, it's likes and dislikes and how they function in the wild.
KAP does not charge for their tours, however they are always in need of donations, both financial and practical. The kids all picked something to donate, mainly paper towels and bleach.

If you choose to take a trip out to visit the folks and wildlife at KAP I highly suggest that you wear tennis shoes and long pants. It can get a little dirty, especially in the pens and while interacting with some of the animals. Children should be encouraged to look but not touch unless instructed to do so by the tour volunteer.

Bring along, carrots and apples as you will have the opportunity to give treats to the horses and goats, which my kids loved.
KAP is always looking for volunteers, so if you are living in the area and have a passion for the rescue and care of animals this might just be a great fit for you.

Naples Princess Cruise - Naples, Marco Island, FL

For a special treat or occasion, we definitely recommend a Naples Princess Cruise. Offering a wide variety of schedules and options you are sure to find the perfect thing to fit into your plans.

Whether it be a simple sightseeing cruise or a sunset dinner cruise in the evening, your time aboard the Naples Princess is sure to be a great one.

My husband and I recently took a sunset dinner cruise for our anniversary. We felt well taken care of from the moment we stepped on the boat to the moment we docked. Our server was attentive and friendly, the food was delicious, and the tour was informative, but not too much as too distract away from quiet time together.

The cost is extremely reasonable, no more than a nice dinner out but with the added benefit of a wonderful atmosphere and beautiful surroundings.
